Ohio Medicaid: Hearing coverage
Coverage for members younger than 21
Coverage for members younger than 21 includes:
- Hearing aids
- Hearing exams
- Hearing tests, if prescribed by your provider
Healthchek is Ohio’s Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) benefit. Healthchek covers:
- Medical exams
- Immunizations/vaccines
- Health education
- Laboratory tests for members under the age of 21
These exams make sure that children are:
- Healthy
- Developing physically and mentally
Healthchek is available at no cost to members and includes medically necessary hearing screenings and/or diagnostic testing if prescribed by your provider.
You may need approval from us before getting screening and/or diagnostic testing services. This preapproval is called prior authorization.

Coverage for members 21 and older includes hearing exams. If you need hearing services that we do not cover, you will have to pay for these services.

If you need a hearing provider (sometimes called an audiologist), you can:

To use our online Find a Doctor tool go to Humana.com/FindaDoctor.
Enter your ZIP code, select Medicaid as your coverage type, and select Network from the drop-down menu.
You can then search by the name of the doctor or facility, specialty, such as cardiology, or a condition such as ear infection.
You also can choose All and type any text into the search.
Then click Search.
Click Update my search to search for something else.
If you need help finding and choosing a doctor, call the number on the back of your enrollee ID card to speak with an Enrollee Services representative.
